We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Nicole Pineda as a Partner and Senior Advisor to its Cayman based legal practice. Nicole is a strategic business and legal powerhouse with a distinguished background in law, international economics, and business advisory, further reinforcing m•advisory’s niche position in the offshore business advisory and legal services market.
An Oxford University (Pembroke College) law and George Washington University international economics graduate, Nicole is a common law (UK, Cayman, and BVI) qualified lawyer and strategic business advisor who has been advising clients globally on the offshore aspects of cross-border transactions since 2006. As a dual (USA/Spain) national, Nicole is a native English and Spanish speaker, and is fluent in Portuguese. She is known by her clients for being someone who “simply makes things happen” and “…is a real business partner and absolutely key to the development of [their] business.”
Nicole began her legal career at Clifford Chance in London, qualifying into the securitisation group before moving to Allen & Overy to work on a number of first-time pathfinder pan-European securitisation transactions. In 2006, she moved to the Cayman Islands to join Walkers, where she went on to become a partner and lead the creation and development of the Global Latin American Group, as well as the Regulatory Banking practice. Nicole then launched and led Travers Thorp Alberga’s Finance Practice for the Americas, as well as Harneys’ Cayman Structured Finance and Debt Capital Markets Practice, where she also acted as Head of the Cayman Banking and Finance practice generally.
Nicole’s expertise spans international debt capital markets and structured finance, project/infrastructure finance, secured lending and all aspects of financial services regulation. Nicole also advises on high profile equity transactions, including M&A and venture capital, and on the establishment of investment funds (private equity and hedge).
Nicole has consistently been recognised as a leading lawyer by IFLR1000, Chambers and Partners, and Legal 500. She has additionally been named one of the Top 50 Banking and Capital Markets Lawyers of Latin America and one of the Top 100 Female Lawyers of Latin America respectively, by Latinvex. Nicole is the only Cayman Islands lawyer to have been endorsed as a leading lawyer in IFLR’s Global Energy and Infrastructure Guide.
Her diverse experience and success in breaking into new markets make her a highly valuable addition to m.advisory. Nicole will play an integral role in delivering the firm’s vision to provide a deep and senior level of strategic business and legal thinking and acumen in a personalised ‘white glove’ fashion, delivering the integrated approach to consultancy and legal services for which m.advisory is quickly developing a strong reputation.
